Tavares, Islanders top Flyers in Brooklyn debut

John Tavares had a goal and an assist to help the New York Islanders defeat the Philadelphia Flyers at Barclays Center on Monday.
Tavares scored a power-play goal with 54 seconds remaining in the first period to give the Islanders a 1-0 lead.
Anders Lee scored a power-play goal to increase the lead to 2-0 at 3:25 of the second period. Tavares and defenseman Marek Zidlicky, who signed a one-year contract with the Islanders last week, got assists.
Kirill Petrov gave the Islanders a 3-0 lead. Scott Laughton andTaylor Leier scored for the Flyers.
